Vice President, Boston

Why did you choose to join Analysis Group?
I chose to join Analysis Group mostly because of the people. There are two qualities that stand out the most about the people here: First is that they are very intelligent. I have been at Analysis Group for a while now, but my colleagues continue to impress me daily with the way they think about questions and tackle problems. I find it remarkable that my coworkers not only have intelligent ideas, but they are also able to execute these ideas successfully in the work that we produce for our clients. Second, the people here are very caring and down to earth. I feel that whenever I have questions about my work or my career, my colleagues are always there to give me good advice. Analysis Group provides a very supportive environment in which to learn and to grow, both professionally and personally.
How does life at Analysis Group compare with your life in graduate school?
In graduate school, I worked as a biostatistician with a small team of researchers and spent a lot of time doing independent work. At Analysis Group, I find myself always collaborating with my colleagues, clients, or academic affiliates, which makes work more enjoyable and allows me to learn so much from others. I mostly work in the health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) practice, where I specialize in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance. The work environment is also faster paced compared with graduate school. At any one time, I am working on multiple cases with various timelines and client needs. Because of the greater demands in my case work, I find life at Analysis Group to be more stimulating. I have gained important skills beyond just research, such as time-management and interpersonal skills.
What has been most rewarding about your work at Analysis Group?
The biggest reward I get from working at Analysis Group is the mentorship I receive. My advisors and colleagues are genuinely interested in my well-being and career development. Regardless of how busy they are, they are happy to make themselves available to sit down with me, discuss my goals and needs, and provide appropriate advice and training. The mentorship that I have received has inspired me to become a peer mentor and an advisor to a few analysts. By serving in these roles, I have learned to become a better advisee and case team member myself. For instance, in guiding others to better manage their time, I became more aware of the importance of timeliness and proper communication with case teams.
Do you enjoy a good work/life balance?
I think the key to having a healthy work/life balance is to have good time-management skills. As a consultant, my schedule can be quite unpredictable, and case work can stack up very quickly and trickle into my personal life. I have learned that it is important to break up case work into manageable and tangible tasks and to set up realistic timelines for each. This way, I have more control over my work schedule and have time for myself. When I am not working, I try to stay active. I am passionate about ballet and take classes at the Boston Ballet School and dance to live classical music. When not dancing, I am either doing yoga or running.
